Ingredients
1.For the Roti Canai:
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- Pinch of salt
- 1 tablespoon melted butter or ghee
- ½ cup water (adjust as needed)
2.For Serving:
- Curry or dhal for dipping
Instructions
1.Prepare the Dough:
- In a large bowl, combine 1 cup of all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon of sugar, a pinch of salt, and 1 tablespoon of melted butter or ghee.
- Gradually add ½ cup of water and knead the dough until smooth and elastic.
- Cover the dough and let it rest for at least 1 hour.
2.Shape and Fry the Roti Canai:
- Divide the dough into small balls and flatten each ball with your hands.
- Stretch the dough to a thin layer and fold it to create layers, then roll it back into a ball and flatten it again.
- Heat a pan over medium heat and add a little oil. Fry each flattened dough ball until golden and crispy on both sides.
3.Serve:
- Serve the hot roti canai with curry or dhal for dipping.
